Star International Academy Reviews

i just wanna say i am a student who graduated in 2004 from that school (98-04), and i thought they dis an excellent job teaching me, and i didnt realize it until i went to tke the placement test in college, and placed in calculus, which was amazing. i passed it with an a on my first semester, and now i have bachelor in bio, and i'm heading to pharmacy school, thnakyou star, and specail thanks to Paul Davidson (math teach), couldnt have done it without him. overall great school that really pushes hard for u to getur education, keep up the good job man.

Teachers have very little experience. Some of them have any at all experience. Not enough programs for the students.Students have no respect for the teachers.More support..... needed

my children are in the school . over all school is good. Some teachers are really very nice in every field but my daughter's teacher is not good I am very disappointed with the teacher.

my children went to start international academy. after review and examined the school policy and all the academic. as far as my concern and opinion. i think the school is to strict being too strict. both the teacher and and staff do

my children have been at star for three years now I'am so happy with every thing it has to offer the staff are awesome and just having the kids in an enviorment where they all dress the same well that in it self is rewarding, i have been and will always voleenter as a proud parent there, the work they do is evertless, and as for the rest well star speaks for itself. i wouldnt have my kids in any other school.

As a student, I had a bad experience at Star International Academy. Most of the students do not care about their education, there are very limited course options, and almost no AP classes. The school is very unorganized and the most of the students are careless. I am glad that I left the school.

some teachers really care and try to help the students but others seem to wish we were all 18 and heading out to collage never seeing our faces again.

The school is extremely poor in many different ways. The teaching staff are a round-up of carefree, short-tempered and sometimes elderly, which leads back to short tempered, people. Because of these annoying attributes, the bond between teacher and student is very thin. Overall, the school is extremely terrible and they don't seem to care about much. I suggest that if they don't want to get closed down, 'smarten up.'

My two Grand daughters attend Starr and they are receiving a wonderful education. They are happy to go to school and appreciate a fine school system. Thank You

My children are in 1st and 3rd grades. This was my children's first year in this school.I was quite concerned about everything-teachers, quality of education, environment, safety, and etc.All thanks to God now after more than 6 months of schooling I am quite settled with my doubts.Environment is safe and good for my children. My children's teachers are very good. Assistant principal-Ahlam Moughnia takes very good care of academic affairs. My both sons are excelling in their studies and their teachers are doing an extra effort to give them more challenging work for their age.My son mentioned and I have noticed myself that several times a paraprofessional also comes in his classroom to help his teacher ,which I consider is good for helping teacher and good for student teacher ratio.I am pretty satisfied at this stage. Also I am hopeful if I have any concern ,it will be taken care of by the management.

Star International Academy is one of the most effective schools my child has attended. I am most pleased with its leadership, the prinicipal is always available and addresses the needs of the students, and the teachers are willing to discuss situations with parents at all times. thanks to all of them.

This school started as a great place to for my child to learn. But that quickly changed. The academic portion of the school is far behind that of public schools especially in the middle grades. There is NO parental involvement and as much as they request it I found that none is really wanted. Overall I'm happy to have my child out of Star and into a good school. Using the rating system: Principal leadership, one principal for k-12 grade is inadequate. Teacher quality, while there are some gems in this school overall there is no continuity of teaching. Safety, I know of threats in the building which were not addressed and discipline is ineffectual.

The early childhood program is wonderful and the teachers are so caring and involved in each child's growth and development throughout the school year.

the teachers are horrible and could care less about the students. All they care about is putting there hours in and leaving. I regret the day ever enrolling my child in such a horrible school. And another thing is the curriculum which is ridiculously easy. The thing that hurts the most is the way the students are made fun of each day. There should be more control and some teachers should help control the situation rather than laugh along with it.

I love this school for all that it offers for our children. The academic program is outstanding, the students and their discipline are just wonderful, the staff and administrators are very dedicated are most caring. The school is a true star.

This school has been rightfully nominated as one of fifteen promising charter schools in the nation! I have seen firsthand the dedication of teachers who are supported by an even more dedicated administration. Fall 2005 MEAP scores in grades 3-8 speak for the school's continued growth and success.

I think this is one of the worst schools I've been to and I've been to a lot of different schools. The rules on behavior aren't good enough teachers and staff let students get away with pretty much everything. Also the staff favortises and discriminates between students. I think the work is way too easy and yet a large majority of the students are flunking. There's a lot of tension between students. Profanity and racial slurs are commen and ignored. Teachers and staff seem to respect and show more attention to the louder more aggressive students which discourages the smarter well behaved students. If anyone ever went to a teacher or staff member with a problem the common response is 'what do you want me to do about it' or I don't care.

They have outstanding teachers, and administrative staff who are all focused on the best education available for the children and have a 'no child will be left behind' motto which speaks for itself. And a new school site coming this school year. Congratulations to them, they deserve it.
