The music scene in Detroit has been well documented through the years, earning it the nicknames of Motown and Rock City. The classic Majestic Theater is one of the most intimate spots for jazz, blues, rock, or reggae acts. Although it isn’t exactly the movie 8 Mile, try the Shelter for Rap and Hip-hop. For techno try Luna, Envy, the Bleu Room Experience, and Clutch cargo’s. For jazz, blues, and R&B try Bert’s on Broadway and Bert’s Marketplace. For big national and regional acts the DTE Energy Music Center. The Palace at Auburn Hills often host big name acts too. For a slight change of pace look to the classical scene. Head to the Detroit Opera House or the Max Fisher Music Center to hear the Detroit Symphony.
